My daughter calls me mama and my golden retriever never lets me sit. My husband is no less than a modern-day patriot and we all travel together as much as possible.

Delightedly, Charleston, South Carolina, was my young adult home and where I learned how tightly dwellings (whether shabby rentals or antebellum mansions) and lifestyles are intertwined.

My real estate and design lessons began simply because I was without a car the majority of my college years. So, I walked. An inconvenience at the time, I am grateful today for the opportunity I had to thoroughly admire each hand-forged wrought iron gate and hidden garden tucked among the stately, yet amiable, homes that lined the neighborhood streets of downtown Charleston.

It’s widely known the Holy City is bursting with historic stories, but real estate in any location has stories to tell. My military travels have highlighted various real estate markets and the families there who desire houses to call home.
